My very first Illo!

This was very fun cuz I got to do a little experimenting. Art is truly exciting because the possibilities really are limitless. There's so much I would like to learn since I've never had any formal training- except for a drawing class at night school at a local high school. I have gotten a lot out of some wonderful art books including books by the author/artist Claudia Nice(I love her books!) and the classic, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. I just ordred the workbook to go along with the original book. I also have a couple books by Mark Kistler. His books are geared towards kids, but I found them very helpful..I'm still a kid at heart! He did a show for kids a while back. Oh and there's Danny's book which I am waiting on to be delivered from Amazon. OK so the topic for Illo was "night" and this mixed media piece is my interpretation! I had a lot of fun with it! It's pen, watercolor, sequins, rubberstamping, beads....I used a sharp scissor to scrape out rain, but I'm not sure if it's visible in the picture. Please, tell me what u think! OK night night.

I really like this for a number of different reasons. The colours are fabulous - I love earthy tones. The clouds and mountains are in some ways similar (in style) but still completely different - which just makes me keep looking at it. Certainly the beads are eyecatching - and they just somehow "work". Great piece!

I love it! It looks so awesome in the large version where I can see all the different elements. You must have had a blast putting this together. Your folds for the EDM challenge came out really well too. I had tried doing those challenges a while back, but unfortunately I hardly even have the time to do my IF work each week. Looking forward to seeing more of your work...oh...your random facts are fun!

For me it was the face in the moon that added the magic. Thanks.

Hey thanks for stopping in on my journal/blog and thanks for the belated birthday wish! Yay!

I wanted to say I really liked the way you added the sequins and glitter to the bottom of this piece. I really love the look of it all together. Great job!

Oh, I do like your rain. Very clever. And the clouds are very threatening. I want to learn to do clouds and skies better. So much can be expressed with the weather. ;-]

Nice job! I really like the colors and the face on the moon. I'm not sure I like the sequines, but hey what do I know. Keep up the good work!
